Changed by the Summer Snow
piece for flute, trumpet in C, & piano
Approx. 7 minute duration
Advanced Difficulty
Composed 2015-2016
“This piece is loosely inspired by my experience going through basic military training as it narratively follows the mood of a character that has an unsteady starting point, is put through times of intense stress, and finally returns to feelings similar to the opening but deeply changed. The piece makes use of very rare tone colours through the unusual instrumentation, instense metric modulations lead by the piano, bugle-esq themes, and serene other-worldly moments inspired by the snowfall that I saw during that summer training course.”
